THE EARLY YEARS (1945–1982)

After 15 years behind a grader, Marcel Poirier founded his company. With one truck, a Caterpillar, and a small tractor, he balanced agricultural grading, aggregate hauling, and work on Highway 20.

First agricultural drainage projects. Marcel and his crew carved furrows across Quebec’s fields with efficiency and precision.

The company became Marcel Poirier et Fils Inc., officially marking the family succession.

Following Marcel’s passing, his wife, Marie-Paule Desrosiers, took over leadership — with the same determination seen in the field, long before it was considered the norm.

The five Poirier sons took the reins, ready to carry on and grow the family legacy.

GROWTH AND DIVERSIFICATION (1985–1995)

Normand Poirier, one of the five sons, became President and launched a new phase of growth.

First municipal snow removal contract in Montreal and the first sports drainage systems installed on a golf course. Agricultural fields gave way to well-manicured fairways.

First irrigation work at the Boucherville Golf Club.

Golf renovations expanded significantly, strengthening NMP’s reputation.

A fire destroyed the Sainte-Madeleine offices. The company rebuilt at 2674 Chemin Plamondon and introduced the Golf Poirier brand identity.

EXPANSION AND NEW HORIZONS (1996–1999)

A landmark project: full construction of Golf Métropolitain — 36 holes delivered in just 14 months. The company’s first mandate as a general contractor for a golf course, a decisive milestone that transformed the way it worked: no longer just executing plans, but bringing them to life.

First project outside Quebec at Royal Oaks Golf Club (NB). That same year, Marcel Poirier et Fils became NMP Golf Construction Inc., and NMP Golf Construction Corp. was established in the United States.

First U.S. project at Baker Hill Golf Club (New Hampshire). A new market, the same rigor. The story expanded to a North American scale.

NEW PLAYING FIELDS (2007–2015)

NMP applied its golf expertise to soccer and baseball fields. Same precision, same high standards… just with a ball in play.

Launch of design-build sports field projects and expansion of snow removal operations into Mont-Saint-Hilaire and Beloeil.

First major sports project outside Quebec: the Steve Omischl Complex in North Bay, Ontario.

40th anniversary of NMP Golf Construction Inc. and the return of agricultural drainage operations — back to the company’s roots.

Acquisition of Mini-Excavation Beloeil (now Excavation Solco), specializing in excavation, decontamination, concrete cutting, and core drilling — a complementary addition to NMP’s operations.

SAME PASSION, NEW MOMENTUM (2018–2026)

A new logo for NMP Golf Construction Inc. brought a fresh, modern look while staying true to the company’s values.

After 50 years of service, Normand Poirier passed the presidency to his son Simon, ensuring a smooth and natural transition.

50th anniversary of NMP Golf Construction Inc. and 25th anniversary of NMP Golf Construction Corp. Launch of the largest project in the company’s history: reconstruction of an 18-hole course in the Greater Montreal area.

Creation of a specialized irrigation division to complement the company’s drainage expertise.

The Canadian brand evolved: “Golf Construction” was dropped in favor of simply NMP, reflecting the full scope of services — sports fields, drainage, irrigation, snow removal — all delivered with the same commitment to excellence.
